"ELEGANCE" ANIMATED TUTORIAL

The tube is a GIFT from ©Lysisange at Pics For Designs HERE
**You MUST have a license to use PFD art**

The kit is from Wicked Princess called "Elegant Soiree" - I've had this kit for a long time so I don't know if this was a freebie kit or not; nonetheless, visit her blog HERE to check out her FTU kits - there's a bunch of them!!

Here is the tag without the animation

Here is the Animated tag using Animation Shop's "Rotate Colors"

I will explain how to use the "Rotate Colors" Effect on PSP Animation Shop

I use PSP Version 8 so any version will work

If you can't use this kit but want to apply this effect on another element from another kit, you can still use the directions in this tutorial

MAKE YOUR TAG IN PSP

Open a transparent image 700 x 700

I used Paper 20 from the kit - Copy the paper and close the original
On your transparent tag Add A Raster Layer (in your Layer Palette - LP) and go to Selections>Select All and Paste Into Selection - go to Selections>Select None

Open and resize (if needed) your elements - I resized the tube to 600 Height

If you're using this kit, Open the Stained Glass Window element, do NOT resize it, and Paste it onto your background

I used the Stairs and Curtains above the Window and then placed all the other elements as shown on my tag

When you're finished with the elements and tube, Add A New Raster Layer on the very TOP of your Layer Palette - flood fill this with black (your entire tag will be covered with the black color) then go up to Selections>Select All>Modify>Contract by 4>Hit Delete on your keyboard>Selections>Invert>Effects>3D Effects>Add Inner Bevel>Selections>Select None -- you now have a thin black border around your tag

Place your Copyright information on the tag along with the name you want on it

Open Animation Shop

LET'S ANIMATE

In order to use AS "Rotate Color Effect" the element you want animated has to be in color - this Stained Glass Window element is in black and white, so to use the effect I had to colorize the window.  To do this and while you are still in PSP, select the Window layer in your LP to make it active and go up to Adjust>Color Balance>Manual Color Correction and set your Source Color to a medium gray color then choose any color you like for your Target Color - I selected Red.  Your window is now red on your tag.  Now here comes the tricky part!!!!

In your Layer Palette click on the Window layer and rename it WINDOW

Now CHECK (on the Layer eyeballs in the LP) the WINDOW Layer in the LP to hide this layer - we don't want this layer to show up yet!

Now CHECK  all of the Layers that are BELOW the Window layer - doing this will close those layers out!  Right click on your LP and select "Merge Visible" and rename this layer BELOW WINDOW

After this you want to CHECK on the BELOW WINDOW layer to make it hidden

Now UN-CHECK the layers in your LP that you had hidden that are ABOVE the WINDOW layer

With your WINDOW LAYER and your BELOW WINDOW layers both hidden and the layers ABOVE the Window showing, right click and Merge Visible and rename this layer ABOVE WINDOW

I know it all sounds confusing, but by now you should have a total of 3 layers in your Layer Palette - ABOVE WINDOW, WINDOW, and BELOW WINDOW

Now we will start the animation process!

CHECK BELOW WINDOW and ABOVE WINDOW layers in your LP in PSP and UNCHECK  the WINDOW layer to make this active - right click on the tag and Copy then Paste As New Animation in Animation Shop

You should now have the Window ONLY showing in AS

Go up to Effects>Apply Image Effect and choose Rotate Colors - you should see the preview where the Window is changing colors - now choose OK

You now have your WINDOW element that has several frames in AS - you can see on the bottom of the AS screen how many frames there are - it should say 7 frames

Now we want to start putting your tag back together!

Back in PSP CHECK the WINDOW layer so it's hidden - we don't need that layer showing up anymore

In your LP Click on your BELOW THE WINDOW layer to make it active and UNCHECK it so it's not hidden anymore - right click on your tag, Copy and Paste As New Animation in AS

Now you want to make 7 copies of this because you need the same amount of frames as your animation - to do this go up to Edit>Duplicate Selected 3 times then go up to Edit>Paste Before Current Frame 2 times - you should now have 7 frames of this part of your tag

Make sure the scroll bar on your tag is all the way to the left and go up to Edit>Select All>Edit>Propogate Paste

Go to your Animated WINDOW element, make sure the scroll bar is all the way to the left and go up to Edit>Select All

Using your mouse, slowly drag the WINDOW element onto your tag - since this is the bottom part of your tag, you want the Animated Window on top of it

**If you make a mistake and don't center the Window element correctly onto the bottom part of the tag, it's OK - just go up to the top of the screen and click the Undo Checkmark and start over**

After making sure your Animated Window is centered properly on the bottom part of your tag, you can delete the frames that had your Animated Window - you only now need your bottom part of the tag with the Window on it

In PSP CHECK the BELOW THE WINDOW layer to hide it and UNCHECK the ABOVE WINDOW layer to unhide this layer - click on this layer in your LP to make it active and right click on the tag and Copy>Paste As New Animation in AS

You want to again make 7 frames of the upper part of your tag - Edit>Duplicate Selected 3 times then Edit>Paste Before Current Frame 2 times for a total of 7 frames

Choose the bottom part of the tag making sure the scroll bar is all the way to the left and go up to Edit>Select All>Edit>Propogate Paste

Choose the top part of the tag making sure the scroll bar is all the way to the left and go up to Edit>Select All

Using your mouse slowly drag the top part of the tag onto the bottom part of your tag - center it up and make sure it looks correct - if not, you can always Undo and start over - you should now have your whole tag in AS - just go up to View>Animation and see how it looks!!  If it's good, save it and you're done!!!

I hope this tut wasn't too confusing for you - if you have any problems with it, please let me know and I will help as much as I can!!

Please be aware that templates, masks, kits, etc. that I use will always have a link to them - but it is beyond my control if these products/freebies are no longer available by the site/blog owner.
